stupid question.. for the target the <2> <3> <4> is that allies? and how do you know which person is the corresponding number. If you can use numbers then that would be great.

It corresponds with your party list. There is a number by their name.

You can also sort the party list by pressing O and going to the party tab and clicking sort list.
